Project Management Institute (PMI ®) is the
biggest project management professional organization worldwide, with more than 215.000 members from 157 countries and among
them almost 185.000 are PMP ® (Project Management Professional) certified. Established in 1969 in USA, PMI
decided from the beginning to promote project management as a profession and subject matter. PMI effort is sustained by 249
local and national Chapters. PMI elaborates standards in this field, offers training courses and professional certification.
 The most important standard is "A Guide to Project
Management Body of Knowledge" which is now at the third edition. |
